This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we may share it, and the choices you have regarding your information when you visit exlermusicstudio.com or communicate with Exler Music Studio online.
We operate a small music studio serving families and early childhood programs in Southern Vermont. Our website is primarily intended to provide information about our classes and lessons, allow families to contact us, and facilitate class registration.
1. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with us.

- Your child’s age
- Email address

- Information about the class, lesson, or program you are interested in
- Questions, comments, or other information you choose to include in a form or message
Our class registration form currently asks for a guardian’s name, student’s name and age, email address, telephone number, selected class, and optional questions or comments.
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, telephone number, and message.
Please do not provide information that is not necessary for us to respond to your request or provide our services.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit a website, certain technical information may be automatically received by the website or its hosting and technology providers. Depending on the technology used by our website, this may include information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit.
We do not use information collected automatically to identify you personally unless it is reasonably necessary to operate, secure, or improve our website.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for the website to function properly or that help us understand how the website is being used.
A cookie is a small file stored on your device by a website. You can generally control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect the way some websites function.
We do not use cookies to create a personal profile of children for advertising purposes.
2. How We Use Information
We use information we collect for ordinary studio and website purposes, including to:
- Respond to questions and requests;
- Register students for classes;
- Communicate with families about classes, lessons, schedules, cancellations, weather-related changes, and other studio matters;
- Provide music lessons, classes, and related services;
- Send invoices or other payment-related communications;

We do not need to collect information about a child simply because the child visits our public website. When information about a child is collected through a registration or other studio form, it is generally provided by a parent, guardian, caregiver, school, or other adult acting on the child’s behalf.
3. Information About Children
Exler Music Studio offers early childhood music classes for children from birth through age five, as well as music instruction for older children.
Because our studio serves children, we take particular care with information relating to students.
We collect information about a child when it is reasonably necessary to provide our classes, lessons, registration services, or other studio activities. For example, our class registration form asks for a student’s name and age so that we can register the student for an appropriate class.
We do not sell children’s personal information.
We do not knowingly collect information from children through our website for purposes unrelated to providing or administering our services.
Parents and guardians may contact us using the information below if they have questions about information we hold concerning their child or would like to request that information be corrected or deleted, subject to any information we may be required to retain for legitimate business or legal purposes.
4. Photography, Video, and Audio Recordings
Exler Music Studio may photograph, videotape, or make audio recordings during classes, lessons, performances, or other studio activities.
Our use of photographs, videos, and recordings is governed by our separate Consent for Photography, Video, and Audio Recordings.
If you do not want your child photographed or recorded, please follow the instructions in that consent and contact us at exlermusicstudio@gmail.com.
5. Payments
Our website may provide information about payment options and may direct you to a payment service or other method for completing payment.
When payment is processed by a third-party payment provider, that provider may collect and process payment information according to its own privacy policy and terms.
Exler Music Studio does not need your full credit card number in order to provide music classes or lessons. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any third-party payment service before submitting payment information through that service.
6. When We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We may share information when reasonably necessary to operate Exler Music Studio or provide services to you. For example, information may be shared with service providers that help us operate our website, process registrations, communicate with families, process payments, or perform other functions on our behalf.
We may also disclose information:
- When you ask us to do so or give us permission;
- When disclosure is necessary to provide a service you have requested;
- When we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or lawful government request;
- To protect the safety, rights, or property of Exler Music Studio, our students, families, staff, or others;
- To investigate suspected fraud, abuse, or other unlawful activity; or
- In connection with a change in the ownership or structure of the business, to the extent permitted by law.
We do not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
7. Third-Party Websites and Services
Our website may contain links to websites or services operated by other organizations. For example, some classes or programs may be registered for through another organization’s website rather than through Exler Music Studio’s registration form. Our registration page currently directs families interested in the SVAC class to the Southern Vermont Arts Center’s website.
Once you leave the Exler Music Studio website, the privacy practices of the other website or service apply. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party website before providing personal information.
Exler Music Studio is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, or content of websites that we do not operate.
8. How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including maintaining student and business records, communicating with families, handling payments, resolving questions or disputes, and complying with legal or accounting requirements.
When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete or securely dispose of it.
Different types of records may need to be retained for different periods of time.
9. How We Protect Information
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
However, no website, electronic transmission, email system, or method of storing information can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Please keep this in mind when deciding what information to send to us electronically.

You may contact us to:
- Ask what personal information we have about you or your child;
- Request correction of inaccurate information;
- Ask us to delete information, where appropriate;
